Spatial Transcriptomics at BMKGENE: A smooth service procedure with multiple quality control points

Our BMKMANU S3000 platform delivers industry-leading spatial resolution, and we make sure our clients receive a smooth experience on experiment and post-sale services.

Our service workflow

Before a single pipette is lifted, we sit down to build the blueprint. We start by presenting the full S3000 procedure upfront, so they know exactly what to expect regarding data depth, resolution, and timelines. We also collect some info from the project such as sample type, tissue size, target area size, and the client’s specific research goals.

When our client decides to move forward, we guide them through the precise OCT embedding procedure to ensure tissue orientation is perfect for the S3000 capture area. We have also designed a dedicated SIF (Sample Information Form). This document aims to capture every detail of our client’s project, from tissue orientation to storage history.

Quality control points: the pathway to a transparent process

Once the client’s samples arrive at our lab. Our specialists will cryosection the tissue, while live communicating with the client. This ensures perfect adherence to the client’s target area and to the quality of the whole procedure. The tissue slides obtained before reaching the target area are not discarded, in fact, they will be used as part of our two major quality control points:

(1) RNA quality control, we check that the RNA has a RIN value higher than 7.0 and perform Bulk RNA analysis. If the minimum quality criteria are not fulfilled, we stop and consult our client immediately, saving them time and budget. We also perform (2) a permeabilization test while interactive communicating with our client to find the optimal permeabilization time to release the mRNA from the cells. This way we show our clients that the quality of the experiment is within their control, and that our workflow is fully transparent.

Data analysis and post-sales support

Once the experimental part is done, we walk our clients through all the analysis steps, show them how to navigate our proprietary tools (like BSTViewer), and explain to them how to interpret the spatial clusters.

However, our relationship with the clients doesn’t end when their data is delivered. Whether our clients have a question about a specific bioinformatic algorithm or need assistance with a technical methodology section for a manuscript, our team will always be a message away.
